Competition contents
At the competition, students bring together small, formula-style racing cars that they have planned, designed, and built to compete not only in driving performance but also in overall manufacturing capabilities, such as vehicle concept, design, and cost calculation.
The ranking is determined on a scale of 1 to 1000 based on the results of vehicle inspection, static inspection (Cost, design and presentation) and dynamic inspection (Acceleration, skid pad, autocross, edelance, fuel efficiency). All in all, a great team wins the championship.
Car inspection
Compliance with vehicle safety and design requirements
It is strictly checked whether it is suitable for driving. The staff who do the inspection are car manufacturers and volunteer staff who participated in Formula in the past as students. If you don't pass the car inspection, you won't get a dynamic inspection, so it's the first hurdle for the team.
Driver's 5 seconds escape
In the event of an accident, a quick escape is required. Therefore, the driver takes a test to get out of the machine in 5 seconds. This requires daily repetitive practice. Drivers are required not only driving techniques but also quick movements.
Brake test
It is an important test to check the car's running, turning, stopping and stopping performance. Start when the checker shakes the flag. And it will be a pass condition that the brake (the staff with the fire extinguisher is near by any chance) is locked simultaneously.
Noise test
Step on the accelerator and do a noise test. Exhaust noise is less than 110 dB under specified conditions. In our daily life, the sound of approximately 100 dB is the sound of "under guard when passing a train". The types of noise fall into a very loud category.
Tilt table test
Tilt the body to 45 degrees and check for fuel leaks. Continue to tilt to 60 degrees and make sure that you do not roll over. If the fuel is leaking, it will be checked strictly as it will lead to a fire when driving. While driving at a 60-degree slope, it is a check that the driver has not been shaken off from the car at the curve.
Static examination
Cost
You will be asked how much it costs for formula car production. Judges proceed while asking students verbally. Judges can not be well informed unless they have a solid understanding of the details. Not all expensive parts are used, and every part needs to be selected.
Presentation
The presentation will be made under the virtual situation "Be in line with the concept of screening and convince the manufacturing executives to be superior in design and receive manufacturing requests". In order to be active as an engineer, not only production but also presentation ability is questioned.
Design
Based on the design data and vehicles submitted in advance, it will be evaluated what kind of technology is used, what kind of device is being used, and whether the adopted technology is marketable and appropriate. The sense is questioned how to design an excellent formula car different from other teams.
Static examination
Acceleration
アクセラ コース図.PNG.png
・0 -75 m acceleration. Two drivers from each team can drive two times, four times in total. Compete for the best time.
Skid-pad
スキパ コース図.PNG.png
・Cornering performance evaluation by the figure 8 course. Two drivers from each team can drive two times, four times in total. compete in time.
Autocross
オートクロス コース図.PNG.png
・It runs 2 laps in a course of about 800 m by straight line, tan, slalom, and shikain. Two drivers from each team can drive two times, four times in total. Compete for the best time. The endurance runs in the fast team order of the autocross.
Endurance
エンデュランス コース図.PNG.png
・The car will run about 20 kilometers on a loop path using straight lines, tans, slalom, and chicane. The overall performance and reliability of the car are evaluated by the running time.
Efficiency
Fuel and electric power consumption during endurance driving is evaluated.
